The accountant Ugo Fantozzi, a modest employee in a large company, leads an existence of constant frustration. Domestic squalor is added to the suffocating and monotonous office life. When he returns home, he has to deal with a sloppy wife and a daughter of monstrous ugliness. An endless series of misadventures persecutes the poor Fantozzi who demonstrates not only an exaggerated misfortune but also a natural predisposition to submission, which touches self-harm.
