The author will be present

Speaker: Dario Ippolito (University of Roma Tre, Fondazione Basso) and Daniele Domenicucci

"He had not yet turned 25, Lelio Basso, when he was arrested and confined to the island of Ponza. His" guilt ", in 1928, was to be a convinced anti-fascist and to behave as such. Scholar Lelio Basso, among other things, propelled the diffusion of the thought of Rosa Luxemburg in Italy and it was thanks to his vision of the partisan struggle if the Resistance became a well known phenomenon. To understand the complexity and importance of the character, we have to know that it is to Lelio Basso, as a member of the Constituent Assembly, that we owe the articles 3 and 49 of the Constitution while, as a staunch defender of human rights he contributed to create entities such as the Russell Tribunal, called to judge the US crimes in Vietnam.
With participation and competence, Sergio Dalmasso recalls the life of Lelio Basso, gives voice to his struggles and enters into the details of his political work, explaining the Bassian image of historical materialism and returning the rightful merit to one of the most important figures in contemporary Italian history ".
